Irish Lacrosse in New York for St. Patrick’s Day


The Irish Men’s Team & representatives had a St. Patrick’s Day meeting in New York City with Enda Kenny, the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland. Mr. Kenny was very excited to be a supporter of Ireland Lacrosse, and met with the team to give his well wishes for the 2014 World Cup that will me taking place this summer in Denver, Colorado.

After the meeting at the Irish Consulate in Manhattan, the team officially marched in the most famous St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world. Sporting the Ireland Lacrosse banner, the team marched through the NYC streets and represented both Ireland & the game of lacrosse in classy fashion.

Ireland Lacrosse at Doc O’Grady’s

Lacrosse Hall of Fame Coach Richie Moran hosted the event for the Irish Lacrosse Foundation

To kick of St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the Irish Lacrosse Foundation held a fundraiser at Doc O’Grady’s in Garden City, New York. The spirited affair featured Irish National Team players & coaches, along with local supporters all gathering for fun and drinks for the cause of Ireland lacrosse. The Men’s National team will be competing in the 2014 World Championships in Denver, Colorado.

With a local traditional bagpipe player leading the festivities, the crowd enjoyed food & drinks while Ireland lacrosse gear was featured in the raffles & auction. The Irish Lacrosse Foundation thanks all of those wonderful supporters who came down and celebrated with us!

2014 Board of Directors and Membership Meetings

The ILF 2014 Board of Directors & Membership Meetings will be held on Saturday, January 11th 2014 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street (215)625-2900. This is being held in conjunction with the US Lacrosse National Convention & Fan Fest.

Annual Reception – Headhouse Tower Lounge

The Membership Meeting and Annual Reception will be held at the Headhouse Tower Lounge, 9th floor at 7:00pm on Saturday Night. This is a great event every year with food, drinks, raffles & great friends all in support of lacrosse in Ireland. If you will be at the U.S. Lacrosse Convention, or will just be in the greater Philadelphia area, come down and have a great time supporting lacrosse in Ireland!

2013 Annual Meeting & Reception

Ireland Men's National Lacrosse Team


The 2013 Irish Lacrosse Foundation will hold its Annual Board Meeting and Membership meeting on Saturday January 12th, 2013 in Philadelphia. The meeting is being held in conjunction with the U.S. Lacrosse Annual National Convention. On Saturday night there will be a fundaraising recpetion with food, drinks and music to celebrate the recent achievements of Irish Lacrosse. From Friday January 11th through Sunday the 13th, the Irish Lacrosse Foundation will also be hosting an expo booth at the U.S. Lacrosse Convention Expo Center.

ILF members will be volunteering their time at the expo hall,  using the opportunity to spread the word about the program’s recent achievements while also raising funds through selling apparrel and raffles. Look for booth #943.

The Membership Meeting will be at 3:30pm on Saturday, January 12th. The exact location of the meeting will be annouced at the Irish Lacrosse Expo Booth.

The Fundraiser Reception has been a blast in years past and this year we are honoring the Men’s Team for earning the Silver Medal, so be sure to get there on Saturday night. There will be food, drink, music, prizes & fun! Here are the details:

Richie Moran To Receive Spirit of Tewaaraton Award

The Tewaaraton Foundation has named Richie Moran as the recipient of the 2012 Spirit of Tewaaraton Award. Richie will be honored at the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony May 31, 2012 , at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

“The Spirit of Tewaaraton award is presented to an individual involved in the sport of lacrosse, who nobly reflects the virtues of the Tewaaraton Award and its mission, and who, over the course of his or her life, has made a significant contribution to society and the lives of others. Past recipients include Dick Edell, Diane Geppi-Aikens, Sid Jamieson, A.B. “Buzzy” Krongard and Roy Simmons Jr.Tewaaraton Award

Coach Moran exemplifies the true spirit of the game, both on and off the playing field. His lifelong dedication to his players extends beyond the field and beyond their years at Cornell. He played an instrumental role in the early years of the Tewaaraton Award and is a worthy selection as the sixth recipient of the Spirit of Tewaaraton Award,” said Jeff Harvey, chairman of The Tewaaraton Foundation.”

FIL Spirit of Lacrosse Award – Dan Leidl

Dan Leidl, shown here with his two-year-old son, Holden, was Ireland’s recipient of the FIL Spirit of Lacrosse Award at the 2011 World Indoor Championships in Prague.  One player or staff member from each of the national teams at the Tournament, along with one official, was selected for the honor.

At the convention


LACROSSE IN IRELAND was well represented at this year’s U.S. Lacrosse Convention with a booth that did brisk apparel sales and key individuals helping grow the game there. This photo includes, l. to r., National Teams Director John Cavanaugh, Men’s National Team Head Coach Tom Prior, and Ireland Lacrosse CEO Michael Kennedy. Foundation Treasurer Jim Carroll said that apparel sales, a fund-raising activity used to support the game in Ireland, were “really great” and set a single day record on Saturday. He also thanked three volunteers including John Mulligan, Kevin Carroll and Megan Curry for their exceptional support at the booth.
